A NEW MUSICAL EVERY NIGHT
A NEW MUSICAL EVERY NIGHT
Musically, Stealing Mona Lisa is a collaboration between a talented cast, composer Gary Edwards (right), lyricist Claude Solnik and musical director Tristan Cano (top). And in itself that is nothing new. But there's more.
Cano, a gifted pianist and accompanist, improvises each night using the basic songs Edwards wrote. The result is a show that's slightly, and sometimes even substantially, different every night.
Cano literally brings the music to life for each performance, one reason that some audience members have returned more than once to see the show. He pounds the piano, creating a show that, like a painting, is created in front of the audience.
Collaboration is the key to any musical. The collaboration between Edwards and Cano, in this case, is one of the unique and unusual aspects that makes Stealing Mona Lisa an exciting show.
